Planning Approved in Capability Brown Landscape
DMW Architects are incredibly proud to have secured approval for a new replacement dwelling in Milton Abbas — part of one of Dorset’s most sensitive historic landscapes.
Located within the Milton Abbey Grade II* Registered Park & Garden — a rare Capability Brown landscape — and beside two Grade II* listed buildings, the project called for a highly sensitive and considered architectural approach.
Our proposal replaces a failing bungalow with a modest, recessive pavilion designed to sit lightly on the edge of the wooded valley. The design draws on a restrained local palette of knapped flint, patinated natural zinc roofing, and hardwood cladding strips, anchoring the building gently within this nationally significant landscape.
This approval reflects a unique heritage and landscape-led design that will enhance this unique and significant historic landscape.
