DMW Architects are delighted to have secured planning consent for 3 new build 3 bed houses within Green belt land in Dorset.

The existing site is a former agricultural site featuring a farmhouse and a number of redundant agricultural buildings, which were key to establishing this consent.

Permission was achieved through a phased approach.

Phase 1 – secured the access road to serve the new development.

Phase 2 – secured consent to convert 3 existing barns through Class Q Permitted development rights. This approval established the principle of forming 3 residential units, but carried the restriction of retaining existing structure and slabs.

Phase 3 – A follow up application for full planning was submitted on the basis the the new buildings would represent an visual improvement on the converted structures. The application also included additional car barns and garages to serve the new units. This application has now been granted to the delight of our client, who can now proceed with a new build project without the restrictions of the Class Q conditions.

The new buildings will benefit from panoramic views across the Dorset hills and have been designed to read as a cluster of simple timber clad barn structures around a central courtyard. Inte rnally, open plan spaces with vaulted ceilings will offer living spaces with a stunning backdrop of rural Dorset.

Another exciting approval for DMW Architects and one we are looking forward to seeing develop on site in 2020.
