After a long wait, DMW Architects are delighted to have gained planning consent from Dorset Council for this mixed use development near Dorchester. The proposal comprises a new cafe and apartment in the centre of Crossways, Dorset. The approval represents an improvement to a previous consent for a single storey extension to an existing post office. By instead creating a stand alone structure, we have created the opportunity to include a 1 bedroom apartment within a first floor element and introduce a new thoroughfare and seating area between the popular post office and village shop and the new cafe.

The applicant, Ibraheem Musleh, has previously worked under some of the UK’s most renowned chefs. That has taken him to the level of Culinary Director in Dubai, opening and running multiple food and beverage concepts, from very popular high-end restaurants to casual dining. Having grown up in Crossways and the surrounding area Ibraheem has repatriated and has a vision to create a high quality casual dining café that will cater for all local residents, with quality products at affordable prices and community as the focus of the concept. Ibraheem is keen that the cafe should be a 21st century design; contemporary, bright and elegant. A building that will appeal to all generations and provide a much needed hub for the local community.

We look forward to working on the next stage with construction due to start in 2022.
