DMW Architects has completed an off-grid shower block building to provide washing and changing facilities at Budden Activity Centre.
The new building will serve a far corner of the campsite and utilises solar power and battery storage. Additionally, the building has its own sewage treatment plant, eliminating the requirement for connection to main services. The building is supported by round timber poles with a cantilever truss roof over, with corrugated roof sheets providing a perimeter covered walkway for inclement weather. There are partitions on either side that form WC and shower rooms, while the building's central service spine provides access and wetsuit drying and storage. The design of the building is intended to fit in well with the surrounding countryside and reflect a simple rural vernacular style.
