Danecourt Road

Site Severance to Form Two Contemporary Homes

The Danecourt Road project introduces two contemporary dwellings into a tightly constrained plot in Poole. Designed for a private client, the homes respond to complex site conditions including topographical variation, protected trees (TPOs), and privacy considerations. Despite these challenges, delegated planning consent was secured within four months — a result of close collaboration with planning consultant Darryl Howells and arboriculturist Richard Nicholson.

Each home is arranged around a linear, courtyard-based plan, optimising light, views, and spatial flow. Public and private zones are clearly defined, with open-plan living spaces oriented towards landscaped gardens, whilst level access and multi-use spaces ensure long-term usability. Sustainability has been considered through passive solar design, high-performance envelopes, and future-ready infrastructure for renewables.

The project navigated steep gradients, tight access, and sensitive neighbour relationships through iterative massing and site-responsive design. Now moving into the technical design phase, construction is targeted for late 2025.
