DMW Architects were approached to undertake the conversion project of a unique former glass factory in Bournemouth. The objective was to transform the large vaulted double-storey warehouse into a combined living and working space.
The ground floor was designated for various purposes, including storage space, a workshop, office area, and a meeting room. On the first floor, open-plan living areas were created, divided into distinct zones and enhanced by sliding glass screens and large furniture pieces. To accommodate the bedrooms and bathrooms, more traditional spaces were constructed using lightweight walling.
One notable feature of the project was the roof level, which offered access to a decked area and herb garden situated between the roof valleys. This rooftop amenity could be reached through a sizable roof light. By integrating functional and aesthetic elements, DMW Architects successfully transformed the former glass factory into a versatile and engaging living and working space.
