Marks Yard
Bustling Market Town Residential Development
Commissioned by a private client, DMW secured planning consent for the Marks Yard residential development; a thoughtful transformation of a previously under-utilised site in the heart of the bustling market town of Wimborne. This 10-unit residential development marries contextual sensitivity with a modern approach to urban living. The mix of two to five-bedroom semi-detached homes, designed around a central parking courtyard, emphasise community cohesion and spatial efficiency while respecting the historical surroundings.

The brownfield plot, formerly vacant, provided an opportunity to enhance the area’s urban narrative while addressing local housing needs with a tasteful contemporary vernacular. The material selection emphasizes durability, sustainability, and contextual relevance. Locally sourced brick, timber accents, and neutral render finishes were chosen to echo the town’s architectural language.
Marks Yard highlights the potential of brownfield regeneration in an urban context. The project provides a mix of high-quality homes that respond to the needs of modern families while enhancing Wimborne’s historic character. Following its sale to HJ Palmer, minor adjustments were made to the design before completion in 2018, cementing Marks Yard as a context-sensitive residential development.
