With support from the North Dorset District Council and a deep appreciation for conservation area architecture, we have breathed new life into this Dorset village, offering a harmonious blend of traditional architecture and modern living.
The project involves the replacement of a large existing dwelling and garden with a development for 5 dwellings that could serve more families while preserving the village’s unique character. Striving for the best new build house design, we opted for a pre-application submission, ensuring a collaborative negotiation process with the planning officer.
Drawing from the rich history of Dorset Pimperne vernacular, we designed a cluster of five timber-framed, modest cottages, set behind a high boundary wall—a tribute to the traditional rural architecture and a nod to contemporary tastes. Each home is a seamless blend of brick, flint, and lime render, echoing the surrounding environment.
