Sustainable Business Park in the West Country

West Country Eco-Park

Currently in the planning phase, this energy-neutral business park, in the heart of the West Country aims to set a new benchmark for sustainable commercial development in a rural setting.

Project Director: Ryan Martin

Planning Consultant: CL Planning

Status: In Planning Process

Set among rolling hills and open fields, the site offers panoramic views and a temperate climate, ideal for passive design strategies. The landscape’s rich biodiversity and native vegetation are central to the project’s vision, ensuring that nature is integrated into every aspect of the masterplan.

Commissioned by a private client, the project is focused on creating a collaborative commercial hub that balances environmental performance with high-quality design. The architecture embraces a contemporary yet regionally sensitive style, drawing inspiration from the West Country’s vernacular while using clean lines, natural materials, and minimalistic detailing.

Buildings will be constructed using recyclable and renewable materials such as timber, stone, and recycled metals, ensuring durability and minimal environmental impact. Modular construction and prefabricated elements will reduce waste and improve efficiency, while passive building strategies and on-site solar energy will support energy-neutral operation.

Green spaces, biodiversity corridors, and vertical living walls will form a key part of the landscape strategy, promoting well-being and strengthening ecological resilience. Large windows will flood interiors with natural light, while outdoor breakout spaces will offer employees and visitors a direct connection to nature.

Targeting BREEAM Excellent standards, this business park is designed not only as a place to work, but as a model of sustainable, low-impact development. It reflects DMW’s commitment to environmentally responsible design and creating meaningful connections between people, place, and nature.
