The project’s central design philosophy was to create a linear, energy-efficient form that maximises light and spatial clarity. The home’s design unfolds as a story of understated elegance. A carefully curated linear layout divides the house into distinct zones, ensuring smooth transitions between public and private spaces. A standout feature is the bespoke linear roof window, which draws light deep into the central hallway, creating a striking atrium effect.

The architecture employs a modern vernacular language, characterised by simplicity and a material palette that echoes the natural surroundings. Vertical timber cladding softens the contemporary lines, creating a sympathetic aesthetic that aligns with the garden setting. The primary materials—locally sourced timber, sustainable insulation, and high-performance glazing—were chosen for their environmental credentials and suitability to their natural surroundings. The home also integrates water management features, such as rainwater harvesting, and minimizes waste through sustainable construction practices.

The home incorporates lightweight foundation systems to preserve tree root zones, demonstrating respect for the site’s ecological constraints. Prefabricated timber elements were used to enhance construction efficiency while reducing waste and environmental impact.
