Warwick Road
A Pair of High Quality Family Homes
Set just outside the vibrant centre of Ashley Cross, the Warwick Road project reimagines a once-fragmented residential plot into two substantial, detached family homes. Conceived by DMW for a developer client, this scheme responds to a brief seeking to unlock the full potential of the site with high-quality, contextually appropriate dwellings that elevate both spatial experience and architectural character.

Occupying a desirable central location with expansive outlooks and residential surroundings, the site previously housed a single detached dwelling that had been converted into flats. The redevelopment presented an opportunity to restore coherence and generosity to the plot through a carefully considered composition of two new homes. The topography and views directly informed the design, with the massing stepped across two and a half storeys to maximise long-range views towards the harbour from the upper levels.
Rooted in timeless design, the architectural language draws on traditional gable-fronted forms, interpreted through a contemporary lens. The facades are articulated using a refined palette of buff brick, pale render, and stonework—materials chosen for their subtle tonal variation and enduring elegance. These elements reflect local vernaculars while lending a crafted, modern sensibility to the street scene.
Internally, the homes are designed around modern family living, with open-plan kitchen, dining, and living spaces that connect seamlessly to external terraces. Integral garages, generous first-floor bedrooms, and expansive master suites on the top floor provide both functional clarity and moments of spatial relief.
