The replacement dwelling has been conceived as a light, bright and efficient dwelling; ‘the modern bungalow’. The design has been developed to minimise circulation on the North side and placing living spaces to the South.
The materials pallete chosen is to be of high quality and robust materials intended to harmonise with the landscape setting. The lichen green standing seam zinc roof will provide a robust roof covering with a matte patinated finish. When viewed from above the building will seem to camouflage in to the landscape. The external leaf will be of a buff grey, long format brick. The material is reminiscent of Purbeck stone and will have a rough-hewn surface and matching colour mortar.
A treated hardwood cladding will provide a softer material for the garage door, front door and to some walls to the rear of the building.
Planning consent was granted by East Dorset District Council in early 2019, with a start on site due for later in the year.
