Thames Reach Hammersmith Planning Win DMW Architects

We are delighted to have achieved planning approval to add a penthouse extension and retrofit the iconic ‘Deck House Apartment’ in Hammersmith, the first adaptation to the block since it was conceived in the mid 80’s.

The apartment was designed and occupied by John Young, founding partner at The Richard Rogers Partnership (now RSHP).

Sean Daly notes ‘it is a great privilege to work on a project with such pedigree and significance’. Our design has approached the extension and adaptation lightly, to fit the needs of our client whilst respecting the architectural importance of such an iconic building.’

Positioned on the rooftop, two glazed pods will be added, one to house a private bedroom suite and a second smaller pod (a replacement to the existing), creating an enclosed living space to enjoy the spectacular views across the Thames and London’s skyline beyond.

Additional works will look to modernise the building fabric, to bring it up to contemporary standards, alongside a gentle renovation to rectify natural wear and tear to the property.

Planning was achieved at Hammersmith and Fulham planning committee and is due to start onsite in Autumn 2024.
